Dope FM was a concept that Daddy J (DOPEfm CO HOST & CO DJ) started to develop in the late 90's while working with the award winning SATURDAY NIGHT LOCKDOWN SHOW on CHSR 97.9 FM in Fredericton, New Brunswick. In 2004, CFMU 93.3 FM (McMaster Community Radio) in Hamilton, Ontario accepted the show proposal for DOPE fm and we would begin broadcasting that same year. In our first year on the air, we were granted a Monday night slot from Midnight through 2AM. In 2005, we sought to position DOPE fm through a weekend slot. We would be granted the opportunity to program the show from Midnight through 2AM on Saturday Nights. In early 2007 Gamma Krush joined the Dope FM team to co host alongside with Daddy J. A few months into this slot, we sought to extend the show from 1AM to 8AM Eastern Standard Time to better serve our listeners with a large variety of underground and alternative hip-hop and other urban music. It is our belief that we have found success through this initiative.
